For ROH Unlocked, the Liberty Fabrics designers contributed to the Pointe Shoe Upcycling Project – part of an installation that sees the shop windows of Covent Garden transformed with costumes from the Royal Opera House, featuring the talents of some of the world’s top designers.

Located in the Royal Opera House Arcade, the project features designs from Roksanda, Erdem, Simone Rocha, Rejina Pyo and Halpern alongside Liberty, in an ode to the magic of the arts and the return to live events like opera and ballet.

“For the Liberty pointe shoe, we highlighted our floral print Thorpeness,” explains Liberty designer Rosanna Tims. “The insole of the shoe is covered in a luxurious silk satin, with handmade ribbons featuring different colourways of the print. The ribbons have been applied to echo the way that they would wrap from the shoe to the dancer when worn. Handstitched flowers adorn the front of the shoe, creating a three-dimensional reference to Thorpeness.”

“We have loved the opportunity to celebrate Liberty print within the context of ballet, and it has been a joy to work with the Royal Opera House on this project.”
