Description
The House of Liberty wallpaper collection draws on pivotal moments that have defined Liberty as a leading tastemaker and artistic innovator of interior design. Framed by the rich textures and relaxed glamour of bohemian botanicals lies the genesis of Liberty. Inspired by discoveries in the renowned archive: rolling panoramic landscapes, blossoming trails, and painterly ditsies are elegantly offset with sophisticated geometrics and sartorial details. Reimagined for conventionally and digitally printed wallpapers, the collection pays homage to a legacy of craftsmanship and artistry.
Celebrating Liberty’s return home for its 150th anniversary, the design house turns to its illustrious past, documented in the drawings and manuscripts by the pioneering artists of the time. Brimming with richly detailed, hand-drawn illustrations, the Liberty sketchbooks unveil the aesthetic legacies treasured in the Regent Street flagship.
Meticulously hand-painted in the Liberty design studio, in the heart of London, and expertly crafted using both traditional and cutting-edge techniques in Italy and England. The wallpapers include scenic murals, opulent wide-width bases, and lustrous grass-cloths, full of luxurious textures and depth of colour.
Reimagined on a grand scale, this life-size interpretation of Liberty’s beloved classic Prospect Road offers a striking new perspective, while staying true to Bernard Nevill’s original 1968 scarf design. Meticulously restored in the London studio in two contrasting colourways and printed on a matt paper, Prospect Mural pays tribute to the design house’s 1960s revival of traditional Art Nouveau-style landscapes. A vivid panorama unfolds as stylised trees, graphic meadows, and drifting clouds shift in perspective, all framed by alternating floral and paisley borders.
