Description
The House of Liberty wallpaper collection draws on pivotal moments that have defined Liberty as a leading tastemaker and artistic innovator of interior design. Framed by the rich textures and relaxed glamour of bohemian botanicals lies the genesis of Liberty. Inspired by discoveries in the renowned archive: rolling panoramic landscapes, blossoming trails, and painterly ditsies are elegantly offset with sophisticated geometrics and sartorial details. Reimagined for conventionally and digitally printed wallpapers, the collection pays homage to a legacy of craftsmanship and artistry.
Celebrating Liberty’s return home for its 150th anniversary, the design house turns to its illustrious past, documented in the drawings and manuscripts by the pioneering artists of the time. Brimming with richly detailed, hand-drawn illustrations, the Liberty sketchbooks unveil the aesthetic legacies treasured in the Regent Street flagship.
Meticulously hand-painted in the Liberty design studio, in the heart of London, and expertly crafted using both traditional and cutting-edge techniques in Italy and England. The wallpapers include scenic murals, opulent wide-width bases, and lustrous grass-cloths, full of luxurious textures and depth of colour.
Brimming with organic movement and natural rhythm, Symphony Trail draws inspiration from stylised impressions of alpine plants, including rock jasmine, edelweiss, and pink campion. Hand-painted in the Liberty design studio, the original artwork has been skilfully reworked into a trailing, Tree of Life-style layout. Printed on a matt-quality paper to enhance the painting’s original details, the artwork has been lightly sanded to give the impression of a fresco mural. Appearing in three unique colourways, the design’s oversized, fantastical flowers and ornamental foliage are depicted with subtle handcrafted textures, highlighting the design’s refined, sculptural aesthetic.
