Munich's Akademie Mode & Design

Now in its fourth year, the collaboration between Liberty Fabrics and AMD (Munich’s Akademie Mode & Design) highlights our dedication to championing young talent.

AMD students gain an insight into all things Liberty by visiting our London flagship store, gleaning inspiration for their work. They are introduced to the Liberty Fabrics archive by our design team, who also share the hand-painting artwork process and give them an overview of the wholesale side of the business. Each student then selects Liberty Fabrics to inform and create their designs. In the final semester our Liberty designers visit the college to see the students present – a winner is chosen, and the winning garment is proudly exhibited at the Liberty Fabrics stand during the trade show Munich Fabric Start.

“It is exciting to see how the students use our fabrics in their final outfits – often it is the first time they’ve worked with print, so they find it an exciting and challenging new medium. We are passionate about introducing new designers to our fabric qualities and printed collections, and we have always been impressed by the quality of the creations by the students at AMD.” - Mary-Ann Dunkley, Design Director for Liberty Fabrics
