Description
The House of Liberty wallpaper collection draws on pivotal moments that have defined Liberty as a leading tastemaker and artistic innovator of interior design. Framed by the rich textures and relaxed glamour of bohemian botanicals lies the genesis of Liberty. Inspired by discoveries in the renowned archive: rolling panoramic landscapes, blossoming trails, and painterly ditsies are elegantly offset with sophisticated geometrics and sartorial details. Reimagined for conventionally and digitally printed wallpapers, the collection pays homage to a legacy of craftsmanship and artistry.
Celebrating Liberty’s return home for its 150th anniversary, the design house turns to its illustrious past, documented in the drawings and manuscripts by the pioneering artists of the time. Brimming with richly detailed, hand-drawn illustrations, the Liberty sketchbooks unveil the aesthetic legacies treasured in the Regent Street flagship.
Meticulously hand-painted in the Liberty design studio, in the heart of London, and expertly crafted using both traditional and cutting-edge techniques in Italy and England. The wallpapers include scenic murals, opulent wide-width bases, and lustrous grass-cloths, full of luxurious textures and depth of colour.
Taking inspiration from an archival fabric fragment dating back to the late 1880s, Fanfare pays homage to the early years of Liberty’s printing traditions. Printed on a pressed fibre paper in England using a specialist roller printing technique to enhance the design’s fine lines, this sophisticated geometric pattern features a scalloped arrangement of Asian-style motifs. Decorated with delicately drawn stripes, Fanfare’s timeless and versatile appearance is designed to seamlessly complement modern interiors through three balanced colourways.
